*The annual Wachiska Audubon Society garden tour is coming up on Father's Day. Land Escapes' owner, Kristin Shriner, was one of the stops on the tour in 2004. This is a great way to see some local gardens and how they benefit the environment and local wildlife. Keep your eyes open for tour information in the local newspaper and at some of our local garden center and nurseries!
*Memorial Day Flowers! Here's a suggestion on how to get more out of your memorial day graveside flowers. Pot up some blooming annuals and perennials in disposable plastic containers (such as those used by nurseries to sell 1-3 gallon perennials and shrubs in). Line the container with a plastic bag to hold enough water for a week. Place your living "arangements" at the cemetary, then pick them up the following week and plant the plants in your garden as a more permanent memorial to your loved one! I have some lovely bright yellow asiatic lily's that I took to the cemetary in this manner a number of years ago. Now they're in my garden and they bloom every year around Memorial Day as lasting reminder of my loved one!
