As President/Owner of Land Escapes Inc. I am very active in all aspects of the company. I was an avid gardener prior to starting Land Escapes and my love, passion and knowledge for plants led me into this business. Employed by "The Growhouse" for four years, I learned about the inner workings of the greenhouse and nursery industry including plant propegation. I have always been very "hands on" with my business from meeting with the clients to plant selection to plant and material installation. I would much rather be outside doing the dirty work rather than in the office doing the clerical work. Unfortunately that part has to be done for the business to continue to run so I sometimes must pull myself away from the on-site work in order to keep up with the other aspects of the company. My specialty is in creating a landscape that is full of color and contrast with emphasis on foliage texture and form. I love plants with gold foliage as well as burgundy or nearly black foliage. I believe that a successful landscape design is always full of color and interest even when there are NO flowers in bloom! In addition I lean towards using more unusual plant varieties which will make your landscape more intriguing and not look like everyone else's on the street. In recent years I have become more interested in using unusual evergreens within the landscape such as Oriental Spruce, Chamaecyparis (False Cypress) 'Mops', Weeping White Spruce, and more. Some of my favorite plants include the preceeding evergreens along with Sedum 'Angelina', Rose 'Home Run', Carex 'Evergold', Holly 'Berri-Magic Kids', Echinacea 'Sunset', Tradescantia 'Sweet Kate', Hydrangea 'Limelight', Harry Lauder's Walking Stick and more! I have been in customer service related positions since my first job as a restaurant hostess in 1989. My years of service experience have helped greatly in the operation of Land Escapes as I strive to provide my clients with the highest quality of customer service possible. My clients are considered to be my friends and family and it is very important that they are happy with their landscape and gardens when they walk out the door each day. We also get to know peoples pets quite well as we work with many of them regularly throughout the season. It is stressed to my crew that everyone must know who's property they are working on as well as the pet names if applicable. I never want our clients to feel as if they have some random people working on their property that they will never know. My clients will never be just another number or property, they are the heart of the business.

I joined Land Escapes as Landscape Manager in November 2007 and have had many prior years of landscaping experience. My favorite plants would include any type of grass and many natives perennials. I also like to use a diverse mix of small and large shrubs such as Dogwoods and a variety of medium sized evergreens. I enjoy getting to know people, discussing ideas and talking about anything related to plants. Personally, I was born and raised in Columbus, NE and moved to Lincoln in 2000. Spending time with my wife Jen is what I enjoy the most, whether it is working on our house or out in the backyard. We have two Basset Hounds, "Finn" and "Wilma", who we love to take for walks and play with. I also enjoy spending time with friends, watching or playing sports such as soccer, football and golf, as well as having the opportunity to bask in the extrodinary invention of indoor refrigeration (Air-conditioning...ha ha).
